I own one. Great beginner bass. I'm actually looking to sell it now that i have my spector euro5 lx. once i got my hands on a nice meaty 5 string neck i could never go back to the sr400's pencil neck

It's a cool bass. Just buy it if the price suits you. Those older Soundgears are pretty cool. I'd probably pay all of $200 for that one if it played well.

I LOVE my sr400. I got mine for $159. It was in need of TLC but the body was in mint condition. I love the comfort of it so I sprung for new pickups, new chrome flats, and a good setup. Most say they wouldn't put money into a cheap bass but if it feels comfortable to play, that makes it priceless.
