Ibanez soundgear electronics replacement

I have been playing bass for a few months and i found this Ibanez soundgear bass in a trashpile down the street from my apartment. most of the electronics are gone, and i assume the pickups are broken. what do i need to do to make her playable again?

Hey Jesey, congrats on a successful dumpster dive! I have couple older Ibanez Soundgear basses and they are great instruments. It should be quite doable to get that baby up and playing again. The first step is to find out exactly what you have there. Take a look at the model number and serial number on the back of the headstock. From there we can figure what parts you need.

My guess is a 1990 SR800L (left handed model) with low impedance active pickups. If you take some close up pictures of the back of the headstock and the pickups, we can do some more digging.

Yeah, great find!
Don't assume the pickups are broken- they are active as stated above- need a battery.
An EMG pre-amp connected to those would probably be be a quick, easy, lo-cost way to get it up and running, ending with a versatile bass.
Find an EMG wiring diagram and wire those pickups same as EMG DC's, but straight to the jack, to see if they work ok.
If so, then I'd suggest going the EMG BQS EQ with stacked bass/treble and stacked mid pot (it'll come with the correct pots and knobs you'll need), as it's close to the way that bass was originally pre-amped.
