Ibanez SR 600 or SR 700

Hi to everybody,
I want to buy my new bass guitar and recently I found these two models of Ibanez that I like very much specially for their fast neck:
SR 600

SR 700

I don't understand so much about all technical details, as neck material, body material, electronics inside, pickups etc, and I would be very grateful if somebody would like to explain me the major differences between these two models. I am interesting if there will be a difference in feeling when you play them, difference in sound, neck speed etc....
Sorry for so basic questions, but I am only starting to play bass :)

Thank you in advance, and sorry for my bad english!!

Looks to me like the only difference is in body woods and finishes. Plus the SR700 has that weird faux neckthru thing going on. Either way, I've got the SR500 and love it. It's my main bass. Their great basses, especially if you can get them used!

Looks like the only real difference is that the SR600 comes with an Ash body, while the SR700 is a mahogany body with a flamed maple top.

I would expect the SR700 to be more smooth and mellow, and the SR600 to be more bright and punchy. Since you are looking at identical Bartolini pickups, the difference in tone will probably be fairly subtle.

I will say that the SR600 with the Walnut satin stain looks every bit as sexy as a similarly appointed Warwick.

Did you click on the "compare" feature on the Ibanez website? It shows the specs for both models side by side! Only difference is body wood and finish. Same electronics, bridge, etc. The mahogany body might have a bit more mellow tone than the ash body. You might also check out the SR500 as well. I have the 5 string version, the SR505 and love it!

Thanks to everyone for quick replays!!
Yes, I have already compared them on Ibanez web site, but as I'm beginner I don't really understand the difference, and what that means in sens of tone and feeling when you play them.
I have to tell that I like SR 600 more than SR 700 (I like how it looks really :) )
What does it mean that they have different finishes? It means that it will go away in a short period?

I will check also SR500, but can you please tell me what are the major differences for this model?
thanks again, you are really helping me!

I have last years SR600. I really like it. WRT. finish, get what looks better. If it looks good to you, you'll play it more :) I have the natural finish and I like it very much. I put some TI Flats on it and I get a pleasant growly sound.

TI flats are Tomastik Infeld Flat wound strings. I think they give a great sound on the bass. The strings that come with the bass are very nice also. No need to change immediately.

I cannot compare the weight of the SR700, as I have never weighed one. I doubt it weighs much more.

I think you should get the one that looks the best, differences in sound will not be noticable to a new player, and it is best to be happy with the one you have. In my case I tried out the SR500, which I liked very much, but bought the SR600 for looks. They are very very similar.

have fun.
