Ibanez SR1306PD information?

I'm interested in a listing for what appears to be a SR1306PD. The Ibanez wiki says it was only available in 1993 and it does seem to have first appeared in the 1993 catalogue. However, the serial on this one (from what I can make out) suggests it was built in 1991 and it also doesn't have a separate battery compartment that I've seen in other pictures (e.g. Ibanez Japan 1992 Soundgear SR1306 6-String Bass - Padauk/Wenge/Bubinga (MIJ Fujigen) | Reverb).

Is this actually the SR1306PD or some other model? And if it is, what's with the production year/slight difference? I haven't yet found any other model from that era with the same specs (6 strings, padauk body, bubinga/wenge neck).

There are occasional one-off variations found, usually from early in a production run when Ibanez is making adjustments -- which might also explain why the serial number is before the model year. There's another example discussed in the Portamento megathread, in which (if you keep reading) the owner posts Ibanez's own response about.

Keep in mind some of the comments the owner of that Portamento has -- iirc since it's nonstandard some of the parts might not be available if there are problems.

Agreed on variations being quite common. Other than that, it absolutely look like a SR1306PD. For reference, the below is my (highly modified) SR1306PM which is a related model and can be distinguished mostly by the top and the different pick up size / shape.

Usually the suffix in the model indicates the finish and/or top wood. Sometimes, confusingly, it indicates the presence or absence of a feature, such as F for fretless. It looks like the PD and PM are kinda the same model -- except the European market got HF-6 pickups and the US market got J6 pickups.

I think there were more differences, including a different bridge and the vari-mid, which I don't think was on the original PD. Also, my understanding is that the body on the PD is entirely made of padauk, whereas the PM is a sandwich construction with mahogany in between.
