Ibanez Sr305 battery wiring question

Trying to troubleshoot a battery drain issue on a recently purchased 2003 sr305dx. I’m seeing battery is wired to one of the volume pots instead of the jack, hence the connection never closing and the resulting battery drain. I’m thinking I just need to move the connection from the pot to the jack. Does this seem correct?

You're correct. The battery connector negative (-) wire will always be connected to the Ring contact of the jack. Ensure it's the only wire connected to the Ring contact.

I concur. I have and older version of this bass, called the SRA305 (before the SRA was renamed the Gio). It also has the Phat control, which at that time was an EMG EXB (Ibby has changed the mid character of the Phat control since, but for this purpose it is the same.) Before I changed it to all EMG actives, it was wired as @fig says. Even after, the essential point is the same: black negative (-) battery lead goes to ring, and make sure it touches nothing else so it will not only work properly, but avoid battery drain.

All fixed. Had to extend the wire a bit to reach the jack. Might be why it was wired to the pot in the first place.
