ibanez sr305 or ESP ltd b-155dx

well ive played an ibanez sr300 and an esp ltd b-154dx, which ire basicaly tha same thing in a 4-string version. i would choose the ltd. the ibanez has 3 controls, a volume for each pickup and a master tone control, while the ltd has a master volume control, a pickup blend control, and bass/mid/treble controls. so this allows you to dial in a wider variety of sounds right on the bass. i like the sound of this specific ltd better than this specific ibanez. its about as comfortable as the ibanez too in my opinion. get the ltd bass, you wont be disappointed
thanks. that is kind of how i felt except that i didn't get to judge the esp fairly because it was set up very poorly. but i did like the tone of the esp better and i felt like the pickups were more responsive.
yeah, a few minutes wdjusting the action could fit that. you could even go the extra mile and buy some emg pickups for it. ltd basses are made so emg pickups can just be installed without anything else needing to be replaced
ibanez basses are good stuff (im an sr400qm owner), but in this particular instance the ltd would be a better choice
I'm not sure when the last time you've looked at SR basses is, but the current models of the the sr305 also have the same five controls; master volume, balance, bass boost/cut, mid boost/cut, treble boost/cut. Try not to steer him in one direction over another based on misinformation. From the sounds of it you've also never played this particular Ibanez to tell him the esp sounds better if you don't even have the correct information on it. The major differences between the two instruments are the brand of pickups (which you would have to sit down and play both to see what sounds better to you), tonewood- the esp is basswood with a flamed maple top while the Ibanez is agathis, and then hardware and body color if that matters to you. There is also a sr305M if you prefer a maple fretboard over rosewood.

the link will even give you neck dimensions of the Ibanez, which are known for being thinner necks, but good luck finding the neck dimensions online for the ESP as a comparison. Once again I recommend picking up both and seeing which feels more comfortable and which you like the sound of better. There isn't a right or wrong answer.
Both are very good choices. Itd be down to the preferred neck for me between the two. I would also get the esp F155dx instead of either of those though for a fiver. Better low B imo. Only slightly more expensive.
Non prestige Ibanez basses are usually made in Korea. Higher level ESP LTD guitars are made in Korea, lower level are made in Indonesia.
Actually where I've looked it's not even more expensive. You'll get a little more tension off of the F-155dx on the B string since it's a 35" scale bass instead of 34"
The ESP is made in China. I used to own one. Sold it about a month ago and bought a Fender Dimension.
I own an SR 305DX ('02 with 4 control knobs, made in Indonesia) and an LTD F-155DX ('08 with 5 control knobs, made in China). I like them both, but I think the hardware and finish are a bit better on the LTD and I like the B string being a little tighter with the longer scale. Both necks are pretty skinny, but my LTD's is a little thinner.
