Ibanez SR500 worth it for $300 shipped?

i'm thinking of picking up labellas, but i'm torn between the fl and fs! leaning towards fl, but i'm down to pick up both and see which i prefer.



TI's are definitely on my wishlist, i'll definitely save up for them someday to try. definitely can't afford them right now, haha. if you had to compare them to the labella fs or fl, what would you say is closer? or are they truly in their own league?

I can't speak to TI strings, they're out of my budget as well. From what I've heard they are much more supple than other flatwounds.

As far as Labellas go, the thinner FL strings will also feel less stiff than the FS. Mine (FL) feel much less stiff than the Chromes I tried. So if you want something with a little more give to them, lighter strings are your friend.

Just thought id bump this thread. I have a sr505 that I'm still finding the voice for. I have a gsr205 that I like labella strings on. Hard rocking steels and rx stainless are a great string. It brings out a depth and thickness to tone that has exactly what i want. Thick, growl, definition throughout the frequency spectrum. These same strings are not nearly as appealing on either of my Warwick basses. For some reason the tone isn't as defined. Dean Markley Blue steels are awesome on those. They do exactly what labella does for the gsr bass. So the caveat is that blue steel wasn't that impressive on either gsr or sr505. That bass seems to be very similar to the gsr in tone but more hifi and less growly. Still nice deep tone and the rear pickup has a nice bark to it. Very signature ibanez tone. So just want to see what everyone is using for strings on your ibanez soundgears.
