I still see nothing that sugests active electronics... they show now passive / active bypass switch, but eq on / off...

Yes, its active. It uses two AA batteries (6V) instead of a 9V battery. A lot of your high end basses use two 9V (18V) batteries which give them a lot of punch and clarity. The 5006 sounds really sweet with 6 volts. I don't know how they pulled that off.

I think you didn't read carefully. It doesn't work with several battery types. MOST basses work with one or two 9v batteries. Apparently, ibanez took a differend route with the 5006.
