Ibanez SR5006E Prestige anyone have it???

I still see nothing that sugests active electronics... they show now passive / active bypass switch, but eq on / off...
An equaliser always means active electronics (passive can only cut some freqs, never boost). That, the battery, and the fact that every other Ibanez SR bass is active too (in fact, I'm not even sure they do passive basses at all).
I own a Prestige SR4005e (that's the model just below the 5006, with 5 strings instead of 6) and I can confirm it's an excellent instrument.
It's light for a fiver (it is, in fact, lighter than my 4-string Peavey International), the electronics (custom Bartolini passive pickups + custom PWC3 3-band with mid-Q active preamp) are very versatile and cut through just about anything if you start boosting the mids, the neck is thin and fast, plays like butter. Oh, and it looks stunning.
I expect the 5006 is, logically, the same but more, with an extra string. Although I'm not certain that's worth a 1000-euro price difference. The 400x are already in the 1500-euro price range, the 2.5K+ that the 500x cost is way beyond my limits (I mean, you can almost get a Dingwall at that price!). Of course, seeing that there's no SR4006...
Note, however, that by all accounts, the sub-1000€ SR506 and 706 are also great instruments, worth every penny and then some.

Evidently because there are passive pickups with an Active Power Curve III preamp in this bass.
Slapinfunk, it's active (or passive but it DOES have active electronics). The fact that it has an EQ bypass to SWITCH to PASSIVE mode means that it has an active preamp onboard. So it does both. Check out the link below. Look at the 5th bullet point under the heading "The Basics". EQ bypass to switch to passive mode MEANS that you can shut off the ACTIVE electronics. No biggie. Just clearing it up for you.

The Jet King and Artcore are two of their "vintage" style basses - those are passive I believe.

ive played one of the 5005e and they sound wicked to me very broad range in tone, comfortable, beautiful. it was just a little over priced to me for what it is, that and i really wanted a warwick instead. but i must say its a sexy little beast of a bass and you must try it
