Ibanez SR900 issue

Ive got a Sr900 with factory Bartoloni active pickups that's puzzling me. The volume knob only works on the last 1/8 of a turn. The rest of the motion does nothing. I go from full on loud to 1/4 volume in a fraction of a turn. Is this just a bad pot? Or is this just the way actives work in general?

If those are active pickups (powered) they need 25k pots, passive pickups use 250k or 500k pots.
Check to be sure they are active pickups, and check the pot values.

I have a SR900 and it had Bartolini MK 1 passive pick ups before I installed Bartolini USA Classic Bass P ups..
