Ibanez SRX 550s...anyone own one? Questions

I found one of these -new- on sale up here for 269.00 (yeah, I'm poor and broke, so I'm always buying budget basses) . MF and a few other sites have them listed for 500 bucks. I played around on it and it felt really good, sounded really good, looked very solid construction-wise. I'm thinking of going Monday morning and grabbing it before someone else does, but... you know... I want some input in case anyone has had or heard something nasty lurking within these basses. Just doing research.

So has anyone played, owned, or heard much about these?

That was my initial instinct, and I'm getting more and more antsy by the minute...because I have to wait until Monday morning to go get it. I've been finding a few reviews here and there online that are pretty positive, plus it's got a Koa-top which is just a bonus. So pretty.

I think the only two complaints most people have about these basses is 1 the preamp, some people think the pre amps are a weak point in the bass. If you do buy it and use the pre amp,use it in modesty only a little boost and little cut. If you crank it full on,the treble is too harsh, and the bass is a little too muddy. But if used in modest it's nice. 2 some people complain that the bass is a little too aggressive sounding and can get a smoother articulate sound. But really, its not the bass's fault,it was geared towards metal and heavy rock players who needed something heavy and cut through. Personally I dont have a hard time getting a more mellow tone.

Hm, well I'm not too worried about the pre-amp being weak, I can always tweak it back if needed.

As for aggressive tone.. :p I'm in a doom/death metal band. I need aggressive, so I suppose that works to my advantage.
