This is my first 5 string so I didn't want to lay down major bucks on one just yet! I picked it up liked the way it felt, got a real good price and bought it. Now I have to teach myself how to play it, or adjust to it, so far so good. One question I have is that since the pickups are active all the time, what is the average battery life?

well as long as you unplug the bass when not in use you should get a few months out of a standard 9v battery pack.

My GSR200 is on its second battery and I've played it for almost 2 years.

Correct, I don't believe any of the SRX's have a bypass option, my older one doesn't.
