Ibanez stock strings?

Just got an Ibanez SR1205 the other day and I'm surprisingly digging the strings that it came with. Definitely nickels, no threads, tapered B string. They feel a lot like XL's but don't have colored ball ends. Think I'll be sticking with these strings if I can so any info would be appreciated. I honestly cannot for the life of me remember if a string brand badge came included in the packaging. Taking off the stock strings is usually the first thing I do but I am liking these. Thanks!

They used to use Elixir. Not sure anymore. Take a really close look at the end of the string by the ball end is usually where its noticeable the most. Look to see if you can find the thin coating there. If there not coated then I have no idea.

They definitely don't look or feel coated. I'm stumped.

Did you buy it new? Also what color are the balls? any silk at the ends?

Bought it brand new, no silk threads on head stock or ball end. Ball ends are gold/brass colored.

That's what I'm leaning towards. The only thing confusing about it is that the ball ends are not colored. Maybe they just use regular gold balls for the ones they provide for other companies to use as stock strings.

Its possible they are D'Addario. D'Addario does contract out strings to be sold by other makers under what ever parameters they supply. However that's how the Elixirs look. The recently changed the coating to feel more like regular rounds though. Either option is just as likely. It sucks when you find a string you like but can't identify it. I think manufactures would do well to put some kind of mark on the balls or something.

FWIW, that's what was on my SR400QM when I bought it.

My new SRF705 came with some D'Addario flats. A piece of paper in the box said XL's but I think I have chromes. My older 2007 SDGR came with Elixirs.

Everything I've seen says Elixirs--including the manual and the hang tag.

My new precision came with fender stock strings the superbass nickels and they were gold ball ends. But fender strings have colored? Hmmm... Something is fishy in the string industry

When the "kitty fur" appears then you'll know for sure they were Elixirs.

Play them even when the fuzz shows up as it doesn't hurt anything at all. And the fur makes a great conversation piece.

Some of my furry Elixir strings are over four years old and I still love them.

Elixir changed the coating. It doesn't fur out anymore. I've got a set thats about 6 months old and still look new.

I'm just about positive that they are D'addarios. They're not coated and by the way they are breaking in, they feel exactly like XL's. I used to hate the fuzzy coating coming off the old Elixirs its cool that they changed it.

Well buy a set of XL's and compare. I don't recal them being expensive. Also you could try Ibanez customer support. Someone made mention that they are pretty responsive. I think it was (very not positive) [email protected] maybe?
