Ibanez

:Ignorant bass newb alert: :Ignorant bass newb alert:

J/K.

Its impossible to hate all the other modles because most stores dont carry the really good models. Sadly GC is not the place to go for Ibanez basses, Atleast the one on 14h street Manhattan, The highest SR model it has is the 505 I think. And they have a SRX 700 and 705 up near the ceiling. Sam Ash is where to go for Ibanez basses, As thats the only place Ive seen the SR 900's and 1000's, as well as the huge range of the BTB series.

Yes. Im going to Sam Ash tommorrow to look. Im on a limited budget, so $200 is about how much i can spend i the bass itself.

What music do i listen to? Huh. ITD is pretty good. Thursday, Thrice, Saosin, Circa Survive, Norma Jean, The Chariot, and a lot of other stuff.

I used to have an Ibanez Studio 8 string bass, it was fine, very reliable, but I did not like the active electronics. Once at a gig, my strap slipped off and the bass hit the floor! It was just fine, even stayed in tune. I dols it to buy a Taylor acoustic guitar, figuring I'd not need a multi string bass again. Now I have three Waterstone 12 string basses!!!

From my experience with Ibanez, it is hit and miss for the most part. A lot of the basses produced are great for the price, but that's about it. They are just mediocre basses for the most part and I don't see them being any greater, but yet they are valueable to many bassists starting out. Me myself, I use one of the American made Ibanez 5 string basses, and I love it. But that's just me, and the pickups/preamp are all upgraded :)

Pretty nice customer service too, I was happy..their website isn't the best at tracking old items, but meh.

To sum it all up, Ibanez>BC Rich lol

I have been playing bass for about 3 months. I am a drummer and been playing for 25 yrs.

I am currently using the Squire Bass Pack. I would like to upgrade. I am looking to buy the Ibanez SR400. Does anyone out there use the SR400?. I would like to know what you think of it and what are the pros and cons.

Also, I plan to spend about $500.00 U.S. So if there uis anything out there in that price range that you feel is better than the Ibanez SR400 please let me know.

Thanks in Advance

I would just try everything you can in that price range and see what feels and sounds right to you. I recommend looking at Peavey, Yamaha, MTD, Fender, and Spector in addition to Ibanez. In that price range there are many good choices.
