I picked this bass up recently. It's an '02 model P/J pups. I really like the neck on this thing. Beautiful wenge/ bubinga laminate that really feels good in my hands. No sharp fret edges, tight neck pocket and solid hardware. I'm able to get the neck dead straight with low action and no buzz anywhere. My only dislike is the electronics package. I'm thinking about going passive with this thing and will probably go with some Fender P/J pup combo. (looks like they fit) Wire it up V-V-T. Would I need mini pots to fit the opening in the wood?
Has anyone gone passive with one of these.... what pups did you use?.. Any problems..etc? My rig is either a GK 1001 RB-II or 400 RB-IV going into either 1 or 2 15" cabs. Finger style pocket player. Blues.. R&B... classic rock genres.
