I'd appreciate some help in buying a new amp.

-I have to compete with a drummer and two guitarists.
-My bass (Ibanez SRX2EX2) either sounds super muddy or super thin/twangy (or both) but I want a clean, thick bass sound, even though I do want to be able to put a little brightness on it if need be.
-I use effects sometimes (no pedals in specific, and I don't need effects built into the amp.)
-I play music that's both super hard and super soft.
-I use a pick, my fingers, slap, and tap.
-I play chords on G and D sometimes.
-I intend on getting a new bass sometime in the semi-near future (a year or two, maybe,) but I still want this amp to do well with this crappy bass.
-Tube/combo/head & cab, it doesn't matter. I'll take anything that'll do the job.
-My budget is about $800.

behringer amps pump out massive wattage for quite a cheap price, can i suggest you look throuh their collection? up to about 200W

There's nothing wrong with Ibanez SRX2EX2. They sound a little bit more metallic due to the humbuckers but that's the sound many contemporary metal and similar bands need, anyway.

I would look at your amp chain as I think a lot of the sound is due to that configuration, as well the strings you are using.

I use my SRX2EX1 every week, it's a fun playable bass. Then again I use MarkBass gear that I swear is the best thing that ever happened on this planet for bass players .
