Not sure how old seem new, and yes I was thinking the same thanksAny idea how old those strings might be?
I ask because the Fender 7250 nickel-plated steel rounds made before 2010 came with black silk at both ends with brass-colored ball ends. I'm not sure if the Fender 7350 stainless steel rounds came with the same black silk or not, though.
As far as I know, La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels (now discontinued) also came with black silk. But I'm not sure if they were silked at both ends or maybe only at the tuner end.
That's what I was thinking, but feel very much like steel. CheersAre you sure these are stainless? From the images, they look quite shiny, which indicates nickel on steel. To me, they look like pre 2010 MIM Fender NPS.

GHS Presurewounds have black
...but only at the tuner end.
