ID the bassists for these tunes?

As a veteran of the 80's "Electric Bass/ Synth Wars" we are all fairly accurate in our assessment and conclusion with respect to the reality of the question " is it i or isn't it"?
That big sound with the underlying slapping and popping is likely double or quadruple tracked with a synth AND an Electric Bass.
Many moons ago I spent long hours with a few multi keyboardists duplicating their left hands and enhancing that sound with a MM 5 String. I miss those days. Live club music ahh to be a young man again

A buddy of mine was just asking me about "Promises, Promises". He's a facebook friend of Nick Beggs. And Nick confirmed, he did NOT play on that recording.

And I can say, the tone of the bass on that track is the most "STINGRAY" sounding tone one could produce. I don't doubt that there may have been a synth doubling it, but that is Stingray, all the way.

the remix has as super sweet intro that shows off said bass line.


The Jellybean remix also has a similar but a little different bass line as well but I like the first mix much better.

A bit late to the game here, but the credits on the "Promises, Promises" single say the bassist is John Read. PPL corroborates this.
