ID this old pickup ?

Cool! I'm curious as to what toys you've had hiding right in front of you for 20 years. :p

I'd spring for a digital multimeter if I was you. It can be nice not having to recalibrate it for resistance every time you want to measure something that's 100 ohms versus 12k ohms
 
Hard to tell from the pictures but if the mudbucker's cover is nickel its probably pre 1966 and if its faded chrome its later. This link may help:

Excellent link - mine is identical to the late `60s example pictured. Thanks ! And sadly, christw, there are no more hidden gems at my house. My Dad has quite a nice collection of vintage acoustic instruments, but I just lucked out on this. Funny enough, I sold that old Kay about 6 months ago. When I got ready to sell it is when I dug up this pickup that was on the bass back when I got it ; I figured it might help it sell to include it. When I met the old guy to make the sale, I handed it to him...he looked at it...then handed it back and said "I have no use for that". It`s been in my trunk since then. I just had the thought the other day to post a thread and try to get some leads about the pups, hoping maybe to make a little cash or just satisfy my curiosity. The pot turned out to be a nice surprise indeed !

That isn't horrible. You used two different settings.

On the same scale as the bass bucker, the guitar pickup should show .757.

Your guitar pickup is 7.57k ohms and the bass one is 12.? k ohms.

I`m not electrically inclined, but I tried both pups on both scales, and the meter gave the same result - on the 200ohm setting, it read 7.6. On the lower 20 ohm scale, the bass pup read something like 1.24 - changing the meter setting only seemed to change the specific measurment. I will retest them though - I hope I did something wrong lol ! From some others I saw this morning, that guitar pup is the hottest one I saw - most of them are in the 5k range. But the bass pup is essentially dead. Am I correct on all of this ? Thanks again for everybody`s continuing assistance !

Usually meters have an auto ranging feature... but you want to be in the 200K setting. The mudbucker should be about 20-30K.

7.6K is not a hot humbucker. That's normal Gibson PAF territory. Pickups like Duncan JB is 16.4K and the Duncan Distortion Parallel Axis is 21.3k!
