Any chance you've heard any of Adrian Belew's solo albums? Side 1, Side 2, and Side 3 all have some tracks with Les Claypool and Danny Carey. I'm not a big fan of Tool, but Danny Carey was awesome on those albums.

Personally, I think the ultimate rhythm section would likely consist of anyone who played with Frank Zappa.

yeah. Except that I wasn't alive for that one and wouldn't be for almost 10 years thereafter. So I limited myself to cats that could tour with her today.

Could you even imagine how much groove Jackson and Beauford could put into "In France They Kiss on Main Street?"

I like the idea of Carter Beauford and Chuck Rainey. Both fantastic musicians that know when/how to groove and know when/how to flash.
Tony Williams and Anthony Jackson would also be nice.

For my bassist I'd choose James Jamerson without question. I'm not too familiar with the world of drummers, so I'd have to go with a toss up between John Bonham and Ringo Starr. I think Ringo's style would complement James's playing more, but I'm a bigger fan of Bonham and I think he and James could put together some sweet rhythms.
