Identify Old (?) Bass

I parted out a bass with a similar burst headstock and the same bridge with the name V. J. Rendano as the maker. The body is plywood, the neck is pretty decent quality. I used the neck and body separately to build two much better basses. I’d shoot for $50-75 for that. Plywood sounds the same as anything else on a cheap instrument, it’s just very heavy.
I have two 80s/90s MIK Squier Precisions, both with plywood bodies. They are the two lightest fender shaped objects i have yet to encounter. Go figure.

You reminded me that I have another old Squier II body and a Mako body laying around that are both lightweight ply. But I just gave away an old ply body to a buddy of mine that must have weighed 8lbs by itself.

the pickups don't appear to be in traditional positions - not a deal breaker or necessarily bad, but definitely something to note.

with these fender copies i think the tuners/hardware tell the majority of the story. the garbage ones have tuners that look like literal garbage - these appear to be decent quality.

may be a nice bass - interesting point about the black edges likely covering an unsightly ply body. maybe not? but it's very likely.

My favourite "laminated body" bass, plays and sounds awesome! 80's Cort P bass, tilt neck and all.

Do you know which model or have a pic. I've never heard of a plywood peavey. One of their entry level imports I presume? If you have a serial number we can probably nail down the date.

ill see what i can find...no promises its in parts was gonna make a fretless out of it...i found out ,,im no luthier..its embarassing.
