Identify this Ibanez

Looks like an SR bridge to me - I think it's prolly NOT an SR by that little area under the neck at the body in front of the neck p'up. I think.

The back looks exactly like my SR though. Same everything including the neck screw placement.

I can tell you for a 99% fact (haha) it is not an Ibanez SR Prestige. All Prestige SR basses have a few common things not found on the regular SR. This bass in the pic has different headstock, tuners, bridge and pickups. Granted some of those things could have been changed (with the exception of the headstock) but I have noticed one very odd thing about this bass. The pickups look like they were originally for a 6 string bass they are very wide. I think and I could be wrong but its an SR1015SOL. Everything matches up perfectly except the "Custom Made" Inlay which to my knowedge was only on a select few not all.

I think it's an SR1015, which looks a bit lighter in the catalog than your does, but it's the same otherwise, except for the 24th fret inlay, which could be accounted for if yours was an early version of that model. The bridge is an Accu-cast B-25. The preamp is a Vari-mid. The body appears to be mahogany, and the neck bubinga/wenge. The pickups are SFR-M. It's a Professional series, not Prestige.

Could be an early Prestige. I recall most of the 'regular' models had solid colors and the upscale models had the 'exotic' woods. The SR8xx and up were considered the 'better' instruments but even the SR8xx had a solid color. Remember, this is also a Japanese made instrument here. Not a Korean. The Ibanez serial# system says it's a 1997 model and the 6th instrument of that model built.
