I found a pic of a Guild SF RI pickup, and I'm pretty sure that what you have is one of those which has been re-worked. In the pic of the Guild pickup you can't really see the important stuff (upper left corner where the electrical connections are), but there are clues. The big clue is the red and black wire used for the leads on the control side of the pickup-to-leads connector. There's also a bunch of yellow stuff, there are traces of the yellow stuff on yours circled in red (see pic). And there's the hard wire soldered to the copper, but here it's on the far left next to the height adjustment spring. It's not as obvious as in your pic, but it's there.
What happened to yours?
The stock lead from the pickup with the connector on it was removed and the red and black wires were soldered directly to the pickup.
The yellow stuff may have been removed to allow access, can't say for sure.
It might have been rewound, which would explain the 7.24kOhm reading.
Or, it may have just been repaired or "modded" after someone broke the plastic connectors.
WARNING
In the pic of yours notice the red outline in the lower right corner. I believe that thin hairlike wire in the red outline is the start end of the coil. It looks like it's soldered to that little white wire, which is soldered to the black lead and hard wire coming from the plate with the poles. All that tells me that the start end of the coil (since it's grounded, and black is a common color for ground). If that hairlike wire gets snagged on something and breaks, your pickup won't work. HANDLE WIH CARE. There's no way the factory left it unprotected like that. That should be 43 awg wire which is about .00225" (2 1/4 thousandths) thick, and it will snap much easier than 42.
