Identifying my bass strings

I got a used Schecter recently. I like the strings on it, but they're a bit dead and I should probably change them. So I'm trying to identify the brand. They're roundwounds. They have red silk where they wind around the tuning pegs but are four different colors down at the bridge.

My googling turns up GHS Boomers or Rotosounds. But I went to this thread (Silk colors) and it doesn't look like either the GHS or Rotosounds use color-coding at the ball end.

What specifically are the four colors? Are you talking about the silk or ball ends themselves?

Sorry, it's the ball ends themselves. And it looks like it's red, blue, white, and red (repeated, oddly).

Those ball end colors are Rotosound for sure. They look like Swingbass 66 Stalnless Steels.

Nice. I have some unopened D'Addarios. So I'll probably use those first. But I'm switching to Rotosounds after that. They sound and feel great, even though they're pretty old.

Rotos have those ball ends. Old school sets had brass ball and red silk on both ends. They are cool strings. A fresh set and you'll have a growly bright and punchy tone. I used them for quite some time. And I didn't stop using them for anything bad on their part. I'm just a string nerd who thinks he has to try everything out there.

My impulse is the same. There's nothing wrong with D'Addarios, which is what I usually use. I'm just liking playing something different.

It'll definitely be a change and you never know how it'll be. Every bass is a little different so the strings will bring out something special. Certain basses I've struck gold with certain strings. I have my stand by Rotos, Ken Smith Rockmasters, and Deam Markley Blue Steel but I'm not afraid to try something different.

Agreed that those are Rotosounds. For the record I regularly use GHS Boomers and the silk on them is more maroon than red. Also the ball ends on the Boomers are all gold.

I love that we have a community like this where someone can ID strings with a couple of photos. Unreal.
