Identity crisis?

Hi All, first post, new to this, but hoping someone might help me identify my newly-acquired Fender P Bass. I bought it second-hand in the UK, the serial number indicates its Japanese-made, 1985-86, but the decal states 'made in USA'. The neck plate is missing so no further ref number there. Pics attached, can anyone help me identify my bass? Thanks.

Better pictures would help. A shot of the bridge, a shot of the whole headstock (front), better body shots, a shot of the back of the body...

The SN looks to be tampered with. Note how the B is much darker than the rest.
The upper horn on the body looks to be the wrong shape, but it's hard to tell in the picture.
I don't want to say it's fake yet but I'd lean that way on the info I have.

Here's a few more pics if they'll help identify. Hope you are wrong but...if it is a fake after all, do you have any idea what it might be worth as it is?
Cheers B.

That is not a U.S. SN unless it is some kind of weird special edition. I have been playing and collecting Fenders for 30 years and have never see a made in USA bass with a SN like that.

If it was made in the 80's, the "B" would be an "E", made in the 90's it would be a "N", etc.

I don't know for sure what it is, but looks like a Squier to me. I can almost guarantee it isn't American and I would be suprised if it was Japanese.

Sorry dude.

I might believe it was a Squier with a fake headstock decal, but no one would change out the bridge, so I'd assume the whole body is fake. The truss rod opening doesn't look typical of any Squier neck I've seen. The whole bass looks like $100.
