Hey all
Not sure if I should out this under humour, but this seems to be the spot.
First off band just blew a tire, went into a catastrophic rollover, and everyone now needs to be replaced but me.
Well at this point I wish...................
Short and sweet: Band has split vocals male + female. Female is a game changer, seriously. I hope to have some links soon and you'll see/hear. Had some trouble with male leads but landed a guy with connections, he purports, but as human beings go, he's an ass.
Example: Walks into studio, unplugs my power supply to the effects do he can jack in his power supply for a wireless mic. As he's very new at this point everyone gets a mulligan after a short 'tune up' type conversation. Walks in the following week and repeats performance, see an ass.
Wants to change some tunes, says we need more marketability. OK says we, what? He pipes up with same band, different song
Female vocals, I think, sights MAJOR issues emanating from butthead and decides to call it a day citing work+ side-work + errata= no time. Had she but said lose the doofus the guitar and I would have pitched him high enough for Baumgardner to see from his little balloon This is very unfortunate, then like a rat leaving a sinking ship butthead signs off saying this is going nowhere. Like he'd even tried. I should add we changed days we rehearse, location we rehearse, and quite a few things as well for said diddlyboob.
Drummer goes next, and this is a major issue as this is the one drummer who can sing, direct traffic during tunes, ties his own shoes, can actually add 2+2 accurately, has a grip, can function unescorted in society, etc
What I think triggered this move was the loss of a parent just days ahead of the first defection.
So here I sit thinking "Intestines for a hat?"
I had put in far too much effort here in all the categories that help shove these little disasters along, now I'm left holding a large, expensive and very empty bag, and finding I seriously lack the willpower to build it all up again.
Moral of the story?
1: If you think someone is a band-killer they really are. Remove them forthwith, and call me if you need help moving the bodies. Singers are shifted for free. I have access to a fairly large vat of Nitric/Hydrochloric acid. You're not CSIing THAT
2: Bands are like a house of cards in a tornado, balanced on a see-saw, with a lunatic on the other end, it's going to end badly, and for the stupidest of reasons.
3: Craigslist is flypaper for freaks
I've an ode of sorts I'll post shortly in humour, then link it up.....
