my question is can put some type of eq in the loop? like a foot pedal eq, or rackmountable eq? they sound good as it is, but i wanna tweek it a lil. we use a behringer 32 channel board as a foh

iem psm - 200 eq question

If the problem is something like an overabundance of low mid on everything, and/or an overabundance of high mids on everything, an EQ might help (as the problem may be owing to the proximity effect and/or presence peak of all the mics, along with pre-EQ aux sends).
But then again, many headphones and earbuds suffer from the same overabundances - or just a big suckout in the middle). So you might be money ahead by getting better earbuds. I like the M-Audio IE10 ($100 anywhere). How do your current buds sound when listening to good pre-recorded music? (DSotM is always a safe choice.) If the sound is "fat" and "crispy", your buds are crap. (I don't know if I've heard the ones that come with the PSM200, however the ones that come with the Senny 300 for instance are ghastly.)

If you're using the SCL2 canal phones that come with those PSM-200's, you're effectively limiting your frequency range to roughly 30hz - 17.5khz according to Shure's specs. So, if you're trying to EQ anything below or above those marks, respectively, you'd be wasting your money. Something to keep in mind.

I own one and i run my signal into a small Alesis 6 channel mixer and then into my psm 200. I also do this for my senn G3. I tired the independant eq trick but hated it. I iike the sound quality of the mike channel in a mixer. i also got a model that has effecs and use a lot of reverb to fatten it up. I use UM2 for buds. Chris P
