IEM Systems

My band recently purchased a Behringer 16M system. I know Behringer probably doesn't have the best reputation but It appears their engineers are really coming up with some great ideas for their newer products. I just hope reliability isn't an issue.

Anyway, there is a ADC which send digital signals to the personal monitors via ethernet cables. It's really easy to use and looks like it's going to work out good for us. I'm just a little bummed that I don't need my stage sound anymore. I guess I'm still going to bring my bass cabinet, more for looks and backup than anything else.

So far so good.

I own the same system - have the P16-I (sending unit that I used with my Presonus 16.4.2) and a couple of the P16M's.
For the year that I gigged with them, they were flawless.. It's now not being used... as new band is X32 and completely wireless - in and out.
FWIW - I run L6 G90 In, and Carvin Em900 out with 1964 Qi ears.

One thing to note with the P16M is that you cannot daisy-chain power (via CAT5) between devices in series, just audio. Only the FIRST P16M in the chain can be powered (no walwart) via CAT5 from the sending unit. The sending unit does have 5 CAT5 out's but unless the unit is on the stage, that's not much help. I had 200 feet of CAT5 on a reel and would run it from FOH to first P16M, then daisy chain with CAT5 from there to other units. First unit was powered, subsequent devices needed walwart power.
But.. they worked well.

Glad to hear your units performed so well. I bought Westone UM2s and everybody else bought the Shure SE215s.

We have (5) 75' ethernet cables to the P16-I.

I believe you have to go up to the PSM900 (or Senn EW300) series ($1000+) before you get adjustable limiting on IEM mixes. Lesser models that have limiting are mostly just on/off.. idk about EQ on the wireless units themselves.
We use an X32 Producer, and I mix my own IEM's from my iPad with X32-Q.

I can use any of the standard X32 output channel features on that "feed" to my ears, EQ, Compressor/Limiter and any other inserts available. Only affects MY feed, NOT the otehr IEM mixes or main L/R outs. I also have full control over the effects levels I have in my mix. Yes, the VERY same effects applied via the 8 effect busses/inserts available on the main outs. Plus, I get the same IEM "mix" whether L/R goes to our PA or we use the house system and plug their snake splits into the X32.

For much of the work I'm doing, this is exactly the system I use, and I couldn't be happier.

It worked fine for me.. biggest pain point of the system for me was running CAT5 cables to every musician along with power/walwarts. It was just more "stuff" to hookup to play.

In my case (as a frequent weekend warrior gigger), I was already going wireless in (G90). Would have been wireless IEM also, but the band mixer (older mackie, not my Presonus) only had 2 Aux mixes, and Avioms were expen$ive. The P16 series was the solution at the time - 16 splits to P16I and out via CAT5. AWESOME !!
My setup was PM16M stacked on top of my wireless xmitter, which sat on top of my bass amp. Stereo cables out of P16M to stereo xmitter (Carvin EM900), IEM mix via P16M. Setup and carrying ALL the "pieces parts" [safely protected] was the PITA for me.
But it worked very well overall.

As mentioned in other threads, my current band uses the X32 Producer, so wireless xmitters are all in the rack (we mix from stage about 70% of our gigs). I bring the body packs/ears and my iPad for IEM mixing. The rack is modular, so 2 racks stacked. Amps/DSP on bottom, X32/transmitters on top. When house PA is used, we bring ONLY the top rack and patch snake split into the X32. Takes less than a minute to adjust my IEM mix with the iPad. For either type of gig we have a simple IEM mix setup.
Much simpler setup, and far less pieces-parts!
