If i had $8499...

So then why do you continue to debate, despite the fact that I pointed out very strongly that in my experience it is true. Conveying your opinion(and I know it differs from my own) over mine doesn't make yours right in my eyes? It's all subjective and different people have different experiences. In MY experiences and opinion, the two most expensive basses I have owned and played are the ones I kept and are the best I have played, seen or heard.

So lets agree that we obtain different opinions from the experiences we have encountered. None are correct, but are correct for our own self.

Because the statement was not just about your experience. Notice my original statement did not single you out. It was that FOR EVERYONE it is TRUE. It was an absolute.

ANYONE WHO PAYS MORE FOR A BASS IS GUARANTEED TO BE HAPPIER WITH IT THAN ONE THEY SPEND LESS ON.

Does that help? Do you still agree with that?

My opinion is not being held over yours... your opinion based on your experience has nothing to do with the statement. You don't get that which I'd guess is why this debate continues.

Edit: looking back I see I've explained this very point several times so never mind.

I agree. I got an sx ursa 6, I loathed that bass. So much I sent it back. For 300 bucks I snagged myself up an ibanez sr506, happy as a pig in ****. Next I hope to pick up an ibanez BTB 776 or if possible, a Fodera Anthony Jackson 6er

No doubt... but...

Is it ALWAYS true? That's the point. IME nope. It would be cool and make shopping easier if it was. I've played some very expensive instruments that left me thinking "Wow. I'll give 'em an "A" for effort".
:hmm:

:D

Here is your second post. Still plenty of vagueness to insert personal opinions. Not to mention you inserted your own opinion by way of "IME".

I don't see an absolute. You? I see vagueness and in that I inserted my own experience. You must have forgot. I will let it slide.

Damn.

It wouldn't be so bad if you hadn't actually quoted me.

"And more $$$ for a bass means happier bass owner. Period".

What does "Period" after a statement mean to you?

Father: "Go to bed. Period"
Child: "Does that mean I can stay up?".

:smug:

I'll explain in advance: this personal anectdote supports that high price did not work out as better. A personal example where it did work out the other way would not prove it will happen for everyone else.
:D

This thread's turning into a 2-person argument, really fast. :S

Yep. What a surprise that it went all sour (sigh). Wonder what's on the Telly?

These kind of threads are somewhat entertaining and enlightening in terms of how people see things, but I don't think they change anybody's mind. I mean, you basically have the following groups;

A. Have a Fodera, happy with it. (This includes me). Mind made up.

B. Had one - or really spent time with one - for whatever reason didn't like it enough (assuming the person really did have one of course) anyway - peace brother and - mind made up.

C. Have something else, couldn't be happier with it, don't see why I should spend more - mind made up

D. Never seen or played one, can't afford it or can't justify it so I'm just going to get mad that they even exist. Sad, sad, sad but - mind made up.

E. Trolls just looking to tick people off - mind made up

F. Just lurking quietly looking to get some info. Curious. Ah, the one and only type of undecided voter. To you I say; get out, try one, and make up your own mind.
