this will probably upset some of you but bassists don't come to mind when I think of the musicians i would want to sit down with.

I would have a party and invite the following:

Mozart
Beethoven
Pablo Casals
Dragonetti
Dizzy
Bird
Monk
Mingus
Miles
Cage
Stockhausen (just to hear him argue with Cage !)

Actually I take almost no inspiration from bassists - i feel that it drains energy that i should be putting into my own playing and composing.
