To just say "Which one?" without telling us anything about what kind of music you play, or what kind of tone you like, is lacking on YOUR part. So when he said both make great boat paddles, he was refering to the fact that those two basses would be used for two different kinds of situations in the music world, but would each perform equally as well as boat paddles.

yeah,i figured that.the only reason why i replied like that is cause to me,if one called a bass a "great boat paddle" it seems like they are insulting it for something they don't like about the bass.that's just what it seemed like to me at least.
but when he said "for what purpose" i did think he wanted more info on me,which i will get to in a minute

yeah,but thunderbirds always get bashed on here.ALWAYS.
he could have just simply put it "thunderbirds aren't for me"
instead of "they're terrible" and so on.and i honestly think most people misunderstand thunderbirds.and everyone is so quick to assume that they are bad,but they don't think about the fact that alot of basses(especially thunderbirds) are poorly set up in the first place.all they need is some tweeking.
and plus,who is he to say that about these thunderbirds? he hasn't even tried one of these ones yet

you all talk about boat paddle headstocks?.. hahaha you have NO idea!!!

take a look at the LARGER Dillion headstock than on my EPI, and you say the EPI is a boatpaddle??...lololol

ok guys,my apologies for not posting alittle more info.these are just two basses i was thinking of buying in the mere future.i noticed though that they were a perfect competition against eachother for a variety of reasons;they are both brand new,they cost about the same (around $600),both are four strings,and they both have the same amount of tone and vol. controls(though,they do have a different amount of pickups.),and they are both kind of intermediate basses.

there isn't exactly one certain tone i'm looking to get(even though i do admire both the music man stingray and gibson thunderbird's tone),but i'll take anything,just as long as i have a better tone and more tonal options than my current bass,which is a regular epiphone thunderbird.i mainly play with a pick about 60% of the time,but the other 40% is all finger.i don't slap.i play mainly prog,alternative,and some metal.i love porcupine tree and tool,and i'm a big justin chancellor fan.
sorry for rambling,i just wanted to show some background info.
and also sorry if i seem a bit indecisive,i just was wondering which of these new basses you were liking more just so i can get an idea

ok,well i can't disagree there! that head doesn't even have those slanted cut aways like on the epi ones.that must be a major neck dive

What's up Talk Bass. Im new to the forum but not new enought to music esp bass.Being that this is my 1st post i'd take this time to answer a poll thread. Personally speaking I used to own a Epi Les Paul Bass & I'll get into that later in the forums. With that being said I'd opt for the Sterling, for me the more frets I can get the better I feel about my bass.[personally speaking]

the epi dives more, both having the strap pin on the back the Dillion is alder/maple setneck, so the body is heavier.

as for the topic of the thread, I have a MM also, which do I use more? the birds. which one to me has the better tone and neckfeel if I had to choose? - the birds, BUT this poll is about the PRO series RIGHT? so............

What is the point of a thread like this every week until these things are in mass amounts of peoples hands for reviews???

Your still asking opinions on looks only, until the masses beat them up for a few weeks at least.

Do I like the looks of the wood center multilayers? YES...Do I hope they are well constructed to withstand gigging? YES... Do I hope they sound as good as all this stupid hpye everyone seems to put on those things to FINALLY put an end to the debate on "garbage" or not ( for at least a couple weeks? )? YES

noone has an opinion on them to compare it to anything unless that happens, so can we keep the "Tbirds suck" posts to a minimum???

first post, and a real good answer to the poll question about the lack of frets in your case, you would not want one due to lack of frets which you need...

Musicman hands down.

Haven't played the import MM yet, but Musicman is a really good company, and makes really good quality basses.

Epiphone in the other hand is a company that puts out total garbage IMO, and the Thunderbird is probably one of the worst sounding and feeling basses of all time (again IMO).

oh yeah and BTW guys,i didn't intend for this to be a "pick my next bass!!!" thread,or a "HELP!! need assistance on choosing a bass!" thread.i have yet to try either of them out.i honestly could not say what my next bass would be.this would be more of a,how can i say this,a "which one out of two basses in a similar price range would you pick?" thread. also,i honestly DON'T think there are much hype for these two basses,amim.
i rarely see threads about either,and usually it's everyone talking about their fenders,or laklands,or sadowskys,or really ugly 7+ string basses.that's what it seems IMO

well,it's kinda hard to put that conceptionover this one,considering no one yet owns this model.and if any epi bass would be "total garbage",i would have to say an EB-0 would be that bass
