It's a great idea. I do this too sometimes. I heard that this sound is that the Orange OB-1 is "supposed" to sound like, but in the clips people just go for a Rock Fuzz sound.

These are the VST's I use IK Multimedia | AmpliTube Orange Invalid Link Removed they sound phenomenal the technology for these has gotten so good it's scary. I was reading the amp the Beatles used the most was the Fender Bassman so that maybe a direction to think about.

I like the walkabout out of all the amps you listed. Tone King. It is a bit underpowered though if you need mega loud

I'm afraid of the cost and weight but a Traynor, Ampeg V-4B or Bassman 100T might be do-able. What does 100 tube watts = in class D watts again?

Around 250 watts, somewhere in that area. All these amps your talking about are nice, you could check out some MarkBass amps also like the Little Mark ll won't cost you much and it sounds close to an Ampeg B-15 Potaflex and it 500watts.

I live in a small town also, but if I want to know how a bass sounds, I drive the distance to hear/play one myself. It's about a 60 mile drive for me.
