I'm going to Miami! Well hopefully..

Hello there chaps,

So me and me ol' lady are hoping to be moving out to Miami soon as pos, I just had a few questions I hoped could be answered by some of you fine people out there about the city and its music etc..

So I'm a big jazzer and am looking for some good hangs and jam sessions to check out in the city also other kinds of music like funk/latin/pop anything really I just wanna get playing!

Also I do not drive yet as I'm still waiting for all my papers to come through with moving here so I will be at the mercy of Miami's public transport, anyone take the metro regularly? If so whats is like? Will I be able to travel to and from gigs safely?

Whats the current scene down there (apart from the dance/beach club scene that I will be avoiding) Is there much jazz? Any info will help guys!

Cheers, Jack.

(305) here!
The local scene can be kind of blah but there are a few local acts that I like in the jazz/funk/Latin vibe:

-Spam All stars
-Suenalo

I also like an artist called Cat Shell, she actually just came back from a club residency in Hong Kong for the summer. Jazzy vibe.

I live on south beach and they used to have some good bands at a place called Van Dyke on Lincoln Rd. Place has closed recently though...

Good luck with the move!
