I'm having a amp crisis!

If your cab has the high frequency level control switch, on-off--6dB, set it in the middle, the off position. This turns off the 1" compression driver. Try turning down the treble on the front of the amp.

Another possibility is to lower the pickups if they are too high.
Agreed. Tonight I spent time finding the sweet spot of height of my strings. I did a little tweaking on the truss rod then the bridge. If I raise it just right I don't clack the strings on the frets. I can imagine at higher volumes that would be not only annoying but painful on the ears. Try raising the strings on your bridge a harid and make sure the truss rod isn't pulling the strings too close to the pickups.

Hey thanks for everyone's tips sorry I didn't do a video yet only because Iv been flat out organising stuff for my wife's brains surgery next week end. I'll get around to doing a vide soon.

Slightly off topic can some one exsplain how they ohm stuff works with amps . I thought you could only run 8omhs amps with 8 ohm cabs? Because I really one one of the orange OB1 500 amps but I thought I couldn't run it through my current 1000watt 8 ohm cab.

To answer your question will depend on if the amp has a solid state, or tube, power output.
Solid state is anything transistorized and includes class D. There are some Amps that have tube preamp sections, but those don't figure in. You only consider the output stages feeding the speakers when discussing amp and speaker impedances.

For tubes, you really need to match the speaker's total load (impedance in ohms) to the amp's output impedance.
With tube amps, you get the maximum transfer of power from the amp when the impedances are matched.
Some amps have arrangements to change the output impedance to match the speakers you have. In general though, the amp will always produce its rated power regardless of the load, and as long as the amp and speaker impedances are matched.

For SS amps, you need to look at the minimum lowest rated impedance of the amp.
You can operate with a total speaker load that is higher than the minimum, but never lower.
For instance, if your amp is rated for a minimum operating load of 4 ohms, it is OK to run it with and 8 ohm cab, you just won't get as much power out of the amp as you would with a 4 ohm load.

My Rumble 200 is rated for 200 watts at 4 Ohms and 160 watts at 8 Ohms.

A few SS amps will operate down to as low as 2 ohms, and may have a switch for two ohm operation.

So with tubes, match the speaker load impedance to the amp's operating impedance.
With SS, just don't go lower than the rated operating impedance.
