I'm looking for a bass that may or may not exist...

Pfff... No it's not Sandberg patchwork. No it's not built like this for cosmetic reasons. I wanted a piezo only bass as it suits my style of playing (with a pick). So I built one. It's a paulownia (super lightweight) body with an Allparts neck, plus ABM single piezo bridges, Ghost Acousti-Phonic Bass Preamp, and Hipshot lightweight tuners. And yes, when I built the bass I bought one pearl pickguard and a spare tortoise one. I just might switch one day...

Your description kind of reminds me of a Godin A4 or A5

Not exactly what you're thinking of, but it's a great sounding bass. I suppose you could always slap a pickguard on there if you really wanted to.

Even further from what you describe, but my Hadean bass uke (I have the 24" scale version) is similar.

I was wondering about a Sandberg Patchwork. That was the correct answer, it was unrelated to the first paragraph where I ponder an electronic-less P.

As far as you're lovely orange P goes, thanks for telling me more about it. It does appear to be quite the unique bird but it looks as good as I imagined it would.

Yeah, I've been checking out Godins as well. I'd love to have one some day, but it's a matter of string spacing. The reason I make these 4-to-5-conversions is that I want really tight string spacing to enable my pick playing. So... When I do get one I will have to mod that too.

And ahem... It's not orange. It's GOLD! ;)

You could always post more pics, maybe ones with a tort guard.

But seriously, more bass porn is never frowned upon on Talkbass.
