I'm not a conspiracy theorist but....

Except for the ones who just want your information, so they can resell it without any benefit to you.

Honestly, I've even been directed to buy things from folks on this site and other sites and I've been like :eek::eek::eek:
after I got the item.

Most recently was recommended to get Yinyoo KZS6 or 7's in lieu of more expensive custom fitted IEM's.

While they aren't truly awful, I dont consider them something I'd want to gig with. None of the supplied earpieces work well, I feel like i have to keep adjusting them in my ear, and as a result the cable keeps popping out of the earbud itself when I do that. None of that is stuff I want to deal with on a gig. It leaves me wondering how many paid schills have infiltrated the various forums.

None. The factory tips are garbage, but the buds are fantastic for the money. You need to get yourself a variety pack of Comply brand foam tips and see which size works best for you (a $20 investment). Then, once you figure out your perfect size and seal, get yourself a pack of just those.

You weren't given bad information. You just weren't given ENOUGH information.

Oddly enough, the best place to buy Comply tips is Amazon. But go on the Comply site first to make sure you search up the proper tips for your buds.

Plenty of companies treat their employees like crap and don't pay taxes... and I go out of my way to find out all I can about them and avoid them. It's some extra work, but worth it imo.
There are some good operators, I try to steer my cash to them.
Also, many of those small business have storefronts and websites you can use without Amazon. ;)
And, many others are foreign, and I'll support local first.

Amazon, and too many others, see consumers as numbered sheep, and, no thanks.
I will definitely buy elsewhere.

Plenty of companies treat their employees like crap and don't pay taxes and you still use them. And since Amazon is made up mostly of small businesses that couldn't exist otherwise, I think it does good for small business . And I don't get the Monopoly criticism. You're free to buy elsewhere ... Amazon sells the same stuff everybody else does and nobody holds a gun to your head to use them.

on amazon apps like fakespot are VERY useful... for household/normal items you'll be shocked that most reviews are automatically generated by bots, giving garbage products 5,000 5 star reviews.

and yes... those articles "10 best..." with links are just because if you buy from the link they get a small kickback. in my experience, actual expert advise usually sounds like parameters, not brand names. ie "a used instrument with two single coil jazz pickups and just make sure the truss rod works and the frets are not wrecked" rather than "fender."

i went through the same thing with looking to try CBD. a friend who knows more about this stuff than me said "just make sure it's third party tested." that makes more sense than "buy this brand its the best"

with instruments there is no best of course, but there is definitely a difference between quality and poorly built. I've seen too many USA fender basses with rough fret ends to recommend them. I tell my students to check the fret ends (and be mindful that they'll be the worst in the coldest months) rather than telling them to avoid a particular brand.

Sure but I make an effort to avoid them as much as possible. You can always find "something else", with whataboutism you can make this effort seem pointless but IMO it's not a good reason to give up that little effort that is within everyone's reach.

Are you sure they couldn't exist, and are you sure it's not doing more bad than good by killing a vastly larger number of small businesses at the same time? ;)

As you are free not to use google. It's a monopoly "de facto". A privileged position that ends up piloting choices, someone cited the "I already heard about that" type of mindset which is sooo true. Companies wjo have billions to spend in advertising will always attract more and more users for the mere fact of having their name circulating everywhere.

well, I hope you're right. I didn't ordered Comply due to the cost, but ordered a cheaper version to get the sizing right. Once i know what size I need for sure I'll check out the Comply brand.

If it all works out I'll be happy to come back and say "Thanks! for saving me $$$". To be honest though, while Im not rich (Im just bad with money), part of my believe system is "buy once cry once", I'd rather spend $$$ up front for something that is almost guaranteed to work without a hassle rather than play this game of "buy the earbuds, than figure out which tips work, than find a cable that works better, etc..etc..". Free time is a commodity also.

you may do this when looking for something to buy that you have little knowledge about. you jump on google and type, "what are the best _______?" it could be hammers, golf balls, bike helmets, you name it. the first results that show up are from websites that claim to be a group or association of experts and they recommend their "top 10 products" at the end of every "choice" is a link to amazon. seems fishy to me.

the reason i question this is because we here are somewhat knowledgeable about basses and musical gear. so if you type in what is the best bass amp or best bass strings, you will get a website of bass experts recommending options only available on amazon. you and i know full well there are better options out there. just seems a little deceptive to me.

so i have been now searching for items by searching for "online ______ store" first. usually the distributors of the products have higher quality products than amazon.

i have been doing this recently with better luck. i just bought a hairdryer for my wife and it had way more options than any product similar on amazon. i've been doing it with tools and other products that i want to last.

has anyone else noticed this?
Asking any search engine a generic "Best" question will always get you nothing but ads. However, asking a generic "Best" question on TB will also get you mediocre results. As with any purchase, do your research and BE SPECIFIC.
Asking "What's the best bass for metal" is essentially pointless.
Asking "I'm in a metal band. What's the best 5 string bass with active electronics, a slim neck, a weight under 9 pounds, and costing less than $500" will get you much better results. Definitely on TB, maybe even on a search engine.

Absolutely! I haven't bought anything from them in over 10 years. I refuse to support a business model that exploits people the way they do. FWIW - I've never used Spotify or any other streaming service for that matter. Technology was supposed to free humanity from the drudgery of life. So far that hasn't happened . . .
And who's fault is that, the technology, the humans that made it or, the humans that use it? :)

The shoe store The Athletes Foot always say the best shoe for you is one they currently have in stock. Think about that.

Because EVERYONE KNOWS that the BEST shoe for anyone is the one that the Manufacturer discontinued. You know, the one you bought last year that you thought "FINALLY! Somebody made a shoe I like! I'm going to buy another pair just like it next year!"

Makes sense to somebody.........think about THAT!

My all time favourite running shoe was discontinued for the next years model. So I bought 6 pairs of them. I came, I thought, I’m still running.

I lied before. There is NO WAY to add logic to any web query. You MUST form all of your web "searches" in a very general and non-specific way. Those are just the rules?. We are all doomed to read through page after page of crap we do not want to see - there can be no way to filter! It is, in fact - a conspiracy.
I stand corrected and and now...somewhat paranoid.
I think it appropriate for someone to send me a Lake Placid Blue p bass with maple neck to help ease the pain and await your tracking information (please ship overnight). If you could have the action set low and also have it strung with some good / fresh flats before shipping....that would be great.
