I'm sorry for this incredibly basic question.

A very wise person once told me "You must know the question before you can get the answer you are seeking."

Well I must be asking the wrong question, because I can't get the answer when I search on google. A few months ago I made a recording with my video camera. Both my vocals and my bass SERIOUSLY distorted audio. So then I started looking at how to get my vocals/bass directly into the computer WITHOUT using the video cameras microphone. But I simply can not find out what I need to do it. I mean I know I can't plug my microphone directly into computer. I need some kind of converter that goes from the output of my amp to the computer, then I need some software that can translate the output (or frequency) of the cable into some usable form, as well as mix it with other audio tracks.

So what do I need? What hardware, software do I need to make this happen?!?

Again sorry for the noob question.

Super basic inexpensive solution : 1/4" to 1/8" jack cable and Audacity.
Better solution : decent USB interface (Alesis IO|2 or Presonus Audiobox for example) with Reaper.

Presonus Audiobox, goes by USB cable into laptop with GarageBand on it.

Maudio also makes a decent USB interface. Not too expensive.

I got a Voicelive Touch that Both my Vocals and my bass (+ effects pedal) plug into. On the back of the Voicelive Touch there is also a USB Type-B female interface. I wonder if the Voice Live touch outputs the audio through this port.

from the company's website description, I believe that is a MIDI input rather than a unit output.

Alledgedly there's a cable that connects a Zoom H1, which can be mounted to a vid cam, so that video and audio start and stop at the same time. I've never tried it, so Grain of Salt...

Actually after reading the manual. You can configure the Voice Live Touch output to act as a MIDI. I found on another site that you must first install a ASIO4ALL first, but then it could be used with REAPER.

Also it say its comes out "dry" not sure what that means!

Using the VoiceLive Touch + Reaper worked..... sorta. Vocals and bass come out but my dry voice comes out on top of the vocal effects.

I'm not exactly the best singer, if I were I wouldn't need the VoiceLive Touch. lol
