Impressed by Markbass LMIII

I heard a bassist in a three-piece band playing in a bar the other night. They were playing quite loudly, and the bassist had a tiny little LMIII and a Markbass cabinet with two 12" speakers.

Man, what a great sound – powerful, deep yet clear, punchy and LOUD. Sounded awesome and vintage-y, with no pedals and a Squire P-Bass.

Do these things really sound as great as I thought it sounded? If so, I've got to go check one out.

Edit: I just looked on the Markbass website, and the only cabinet that matched the looks of the one I saw the other night is the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]... so make that two 10" speakers, not two 12"s.

just out of curiosity, was there a PA involved in the tone in this example ?

not knocking the LM love here, just wondering.

I ran into a situation at a local Guitar festival this weekend where I heard a band in a live situation. It really looked like the bass player was using a MM 4 through a Mesa M9 Carbine + PH1000 rig, and it sounded great to me.

On a break I asked her how she liked the M9, and she said it was all DI and the Mesa was just sitting there. It caught me totally off guard.

so, just sayin'

I went to look at the Mark Bass like primarily because it was small and easily transportable. I bought an LMII and a Traveler 102P .

My intent was to use it mainly as a rehearsal rig, again because it was small and easily transportable. I really like the combination, although lately I've just been leaving the cab in my buddies basement for convenience.

My only wish was that I had bought the cab as a 4ohm model instead of the 8ohm'er that I have. Again, just because.....
