"In-between" coil settings on a Sterling?

I just got a new EBMM Sterling HS (Cherryburst with a maple board...drop dead gorgeous!) and made a discovery.

I can set the blade switch in between the 4th and 5th click stops and get an entirely different sound. I'm told that the 5th position is the switch all the way forward, closest to the neck.

At any rate, this in between setting gives a HUGE boost in volume and punch over the click stops on either side of it. I love it!

Is this something you can do with all or most Sterlings, or is it a fluke on mine?
