Hmmm...... Be very careful with the one-ear thing. Every IEM manual I've read warns against it. The physiology of the human ear is such that removing one earphone doesn't halve the volume as youd expect, it cuts it by a lot more. You tend to run that single earphone much hotter as a result without realizing you're hitting that ear drum much harder than you should.
The way around it is to set your level with both earphones in, then remove one. All you have to do then is resist the temptation to turn it up.
