Double Bass In need of an amp

I'm leaning toward the Electric Blue 15-180 Bass Combo Amp bu i really don't know if it's a good deal for my DB. I will be also using a BG on the same amp so whatever i get has to be a smooth switch between the two. I was wondering if anyone has tried this amp with any success.

Sorry, don't know much 'bout the Ashdown. But a lot of us list all of our gear (current and prior) in our TB profiles. That's a good place to start checking out what people are using now and have used in the past.

i own an Ashdown MAG300 head through a peavey 4*12, and to be honest... its great for electric, but i don't like it for upright... for one its way too loud, and for two, i just can't get a nice upright sound from it. :scowl:

i imagine the electric blue might be better... certainly would hope so, but be careful here... Ashdown use a lot of Trace Elliot parts, which to my mind are pure and simple electric. they all seem to manipulate your sound... even when set 'flat'

i recently picked up a GK backline 112, which i like a lot more for upright (not the most popular amp... so am not recomending this outright) and this wouldn't cut an electic gig (with a loudish band) at all.

people on here like the GK MB150 and there are a lot of threrads/views about the acoustic image range and some whizzy thing.

you have loads of options outside of the Ashdown... i would shop around quite a bit... and take your time... you don't want to get something home and just get disappointed with it within a coupole of weeks.

I think a ashdown blue was just provided at a gig i played last sunday. I thought it was a decent amp for the price it was going for. not a very conventional upright amp though...

I borrowed one on a gig last year and I expected not to like it, but I thought it was cool!

I actually just settled on the GK Backline 110 Combo. I have a Harke stack for when I need to be loud already so any electric work I'd do would be home use (recording, practice, etc.) I really like it.. It's compact enough to carry around with little effort...

Plus I got to try it out with a '66 Jazz Bass..
