In praise of the humble Squier Affinity

That's a hot looking bass! Is that a standard red-tort or brown (looks more brown-ish). I have a black Affinity Jazz V with a Black Pearl guard, but been looking for a possible alternative. In any case, nice bass!

That brown tort looks great. I'm interested where you got it as well.

Naturally it's on sale now. I bought mine a few weeks ago and it was 30 bucks. 26 bucks is a great deal,every where else I've found them to be over 40 dollars. On my bass is was an exact fit minus the one screw on the treble side of the neck pocket. Definitely makes the bass look higher quality.

I know about the China-part and the years should be around 1998½-2000, but the fact that I have a lot of oddball parts that do not match the parts list in either the Reliant or the CORT makes me somewhat confused.

Neither the CORT nor the latter model 005-4932-000 tuners are the same as I have, and as we know the PGs are different too, even though Fender lists them as the same for both basses: 005-4934-000

Does it have the truss rod access cut out? (Pic on MF not working right now.)

I don't know how you deal with the frets not matching the dot placement, that would drive me bonkers!

I Got one delivered today after many years away from basses and i have to say im pretty impressed,the action was ok (could be lowered a tad) but theres bags of room for movement in the saddles so thats not a problem,ive not set it up proper yet as ive been to busy playing on it.
I used to have squiers years ago and i was well into them then, cant wait to get stuck into playing again

They are pretty great indeed. I have a Squier Affinity P-Bass with some D'Addario Chromes. Sounds awesome! It shares it's stable with a Squier Standard 5-string Precision. Yup, I'm all set!!

Can anyone tell me what scale the Affinity's are? I've looked on Musician's Friend and American Musical Supply, and neither states the scale.

Are they 34"?

I love my Squier Affinity P! It's been upgraded with a Gotoh 201 bridge, EMG Select pickups, Switchcraft jack, CTS pots and it ROCKS!! It's my main bass now!

I see that you can replace the neck with a Fender MIM. Does this also mean that Warmoth, Allparts, and/or Mighty Mite would fit? I ask because I have a fretted Affinity jazz and I'd like to put an unlined fretless neck on it.

Some may require some slight modding. My mighty mite neck fit in my VM body but it was a pretty tight fit.

Do you know if the neck pocket in the Affinity the same size as the pocket in the VM?

I have an Affinity Jazz and I love it. It was my first bass...even though that was only at the beginning of this year. I just got a Thunderbird Pro, so now there are a couple of mods being planned for the J. I have thought about putting some Dimarzio pick-ups and a new bridge on it.
