Looking to get lots of knowledge for my own enjoyment until I feel comfortable to deliver. I've always had a passion for playing guitar. Growing up listening to Led Zepplin, Rush, Metallica, Black Sabath and a bunch of hair metal bands. I never had my own gear, until now thanks to my wonderful wife. She surprised me with a Schecter Raiden bass and a Fender Rumble 75 amp for this past chrismas and I have not been able to put it down. Learning songs only from tab form I would like advice for the best online or DVD lessons out there. I've searched YouTube and such but not much organization. I'm also interested in getting some effects pedals but looking for input on what's hot. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

i just ordered a raiden this evening. looks like a pretty decent bass. it must be awesome since you haven't been able to put it down lol. i started out playing basic blues scales and warmups. i can draw up some scales and post tomorrow. one warmup scale in particular is very nice it'll stress the wrist pretty good. i don't know of any sites to check. taking lessons is always advised

Havnt tried any blues scales yet just starting on major scales but trying to find ways to keep it fun and interesting. I am leaning toward purchasing Teach Me Bass Guitar by Ron voiyt. Reviews say it's the best on the market. He supposedly does Blues.
