info on inherited Kent bass

Hello,

Can anyone shed some light on this bass? It belonged to my wife's uncle, who died suddenly in 1966, leaving this untouched until I inherited it in 2002. Still has the original flatwounds on it.

that's a cool bass. it was made in japan, probably in the mid to late 60's. Kent's were often made by the same manufacturer/factory as St. George and Teisco (just to name a few). your's is in really nice shape.

Congratulations! My very first bass was a Kent, very similar to yours. It cost all of $79 new It served me well for a couple of years until I upgraded; I used it as a trade in. I still wish I had it

I also wish I knew something about setting up a bass back then, the action was way too high. If I had set it up properly I might have held off on my upgrade!

Cool, thanks everyone. I still have to take it in for a set-up, though it plays quite well. And as much as I like have those 45 year-old strings on there, I might restring with rounds.

I think some nickel roundwounds would sound very nice! I don't think they had been invented when I owned mine

That is a very nice bass. Keep it a long time. It will be good to you. It is most certainly from the Teisco group. Mid-60's would be my guess as well.
