inner creativity

thanks so much for all of your insight on this thread

In my development as a musician, I constantly find myslef seeking external sources of inspiration...be it classic recordings, lessons, poetry, movies, etc....

this is all well and good, BUT, i have so much difficulty going INside to access the creativity and music that is inside of me.

so i was wondering if you had any ways of making it easier to really sit down and search for the music that we all have inside ourselves

Anyway, the demands of certain situations can certainly help that. I've even resorted to saying to myself that "I need to come up with four great song ideas tonight", then actually doing it...that might sound silly, trying to create "art" by a deadline. But frankly, it has worked for me in the past on numerous occasions. Strange thing!
