The answer here is that its the branding or model number for Schaller's run-of-the mill open gear tuner.
Oddly, on the Schaller site, there is no reference to a BML tuner... there is the BM which is the tuner that we all know and love as the BML and the BM Light which is quite different.

I'm pretty sure, back when I had my Warmoth neck made for my Jazz Bass, I ordered the BML size, which does correspond to their vintage elephant-ear tuners.As I understand it...BML requires an 11/16 hole, which I believe is standard or vintage Fender...plate tuners......nothing 'light' about any of that....is there?
