The answer here is that its the branding or model number for Schaller's run-of-the mill open gear tuner.

Oddly, on the Schaller site, there is no reference to a BML tuner... there is the BM which is the tuner that we all know and love as the BML and the BM Light which is quite different.

As I understand it...BML requires an 11/16 hole, which I believe is standard or vintage Fender...plate tuners......nothing 'light' about any of that....is there?

I'm pretty sure, back when I had my Warmoth neck made for my Jazz Bass, I ordered the BML size, which does correspond to their vintage elephant-ear tuners.
