inside YAMAHA RBX JM2

hi guys, i know RBXJM2 is a discontinued bass guitar, but it is my dream bass guitar. does anyone have its original inside (preamp, potensio and cabelling system) picture? i've been lookng for several hours and ends up with nothing. doea anyone can help me?

There isn't much info you could gain, other than simply satisfying curiosity, which doesn't seem like a reason to spend hours searching.

Just like what I said before, I bought this one last week and I'm afraid I got the broken one. I find it difficult to get the best tone, it is always giving me overgain tone and tends to over peak :crying::help::crying::help:

That's strange any way to test the other one? Or did you buy online? have you tried just hooking the bass straight into the amp with no effects ? Are there any internal trim pots? I would take the bass to a music store and test it on different amps it might just be your setup.

I don't buy it online, however I don't really understand guitar electronics either:help:....I did hook it straight into the seller's amp, and I did Not any problem that time. When I brought it home and hooked it to my amp(15 watt) with Max vol and on board eq, I found it overpeak. I set the amp's gain at 9pm. I tried to plug my stage earphone(senheizzer) and found it had better sound. But still, it's overpeak and the low b bass is not satisfying...:crying::crying:...I am thinking that the problem is in the electronics part, I find the cables has been cut of and soldered...that's why I am asking all master technicians here about jm2's original electronics....:bawl:

I find that odd. My JM2 is not as loud as some of my other basses, even passive's. Could it be you have all the knobs cranked right up? The 3 band eq is quite powerful, particularly the mids - make sure that the eq knobs are centred, not all the way up, this should ensure you have 'unity' gain.

This is the photo I'm talking about. Is the taped wire on the left normal? I mean, does it soldered and taped this way from yamaha factory? I found that jm2 preamp is different than Musicman's.....

I used to have this bass. The preamp is a "custom" Seymour Duncan although I don't think it's that big of a deal at all. If the preamp doesn't work properly, you can contact the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop to see if they can get you another one, but I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap. It might not even be worth the cost. If you want to stay with Seymour Duncan, you can get the Seymour Duncan STC 3M3 preamp or the STC-3A preamp which will sound the same plus you'll have a "slap switch." I had another one of these basses that had an Aguilar OBP-3 preamp and it killed! It had massive power and tone!
