Instant fretless bass?

An octave pedal is no substitute for a real 8-string bass either; yet the fact some players find the former useful in order to emulate the latter, on one or two songs in their set, somehow doesn't stir anything nearly resembling the same outrage.

Fair enough. But I think it’s also worth noting that it hasn’t been established that it can do anything, let alone something difficult, regardless of its asking price jyst yet. Which is why I preferred to reserve judgement until someone (or me maybe) tries it out. Kinda hard to speculate on that without a test drive.

A solution in search of a problem... there have been a number of attempts made at addressing one bass that functions as two basses.(always a compromise) For designers this is a fun challenge, and some have been quite inventive... but as most actual players accept - if you want both you bring both to the gig.

Not a new idea, there was a company offering interchangeable fretboards back in the 1980s. Can’t remember the name, though.

When is plastic too plastic? A lot of basses over the years came with [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] boards, including Steinbergers.

Regarding all the talk about a plastic fretboard, when this was first being developed, I suggested they go with sapphire crystal, like you can find on Movado watches.
Now, I'm no longer in product development, but sweeping up and taking out the trash is still a job, right?
