Instead of Fender PBass

G&L LB-100 (US) or Carvin PB4?

I'm going to be ordering a G&L LB100 later today so that one gets my vote! I know the carvin is a fine quality bass but I'm just not a huge fan of the aesthetics truth be told.

+1 for G&L. I have an original run LB-100, love it. If you're ordering new, they have lots of neck options and great finishes to choose from. That said, I've never played the new Carvin P, but they do make some nice stuff as well.

Ed just reviewed both on his YouTube channel- I have the PB v- with the option I ordered from Carvin - ss frets matching headstock- the G&L would have been 500 more

Thanks guys, I am leaning towards the G&L. Unfortunately I can not try either one of them here in Sweden so I have to rely on other promoters and Youtube clips...

Tough call. I have a SB4001 Carvin and I love it. Great neck profile. That being said, the LB-100 looks and sounds great as well. IMHO: Alot of guys that hire will feel more confortable with the more traditional looking LB-100. Either way, you can't lose.

I have a SB4000 and a US L-2000. They're both better than I am and although very different basses there is something that I like better with the G&L in terms of robustness, construction, bridge, finish...not sure what it is. Maybe it is the Leo myth, who knows?

So why order something without being able to try it out? Not like either is especially unique. I'd go with something I know if I have to buy blind.

Why would I ask on Talkbass if I could try them out? I want a Pbass style bass but not a Fender. From past experience I trust both Carvin and G&L enough to buy blind after a bit of research.

An LB-100 is in my future for sure. Can't get excited about Carvin, though the bang-for-buck is excellent.
