Interesting Ampeg

I believe that many of the basses Lug posted have been reissued, either by Bruce Johnson ("Johnson's Extremely Strange Musical Instrument Co"), who builds upgraded replicas of the first one, or outfits that market the "Baby Bass" (second pic), or a Japanese builder (the Dan Armstrong Lucite bass).

The Big Stud and the companion Little Stud were made offshore and marketed after Ampeg was sold by Everett Hull, its original owner.

There is an excellent history of Ampeg: "Ampeg - The Story Behind the Sound" by Gregg Hopkins and Bill Moore. There are numerous photos of all the Ampeg basses (and amps, of course) there.
